Outdoor play includes the participation of your students and staff in any activities outside while not in school. Examples include connecting with your local community trails or parks, building strong partnerships with local outdoor champions, enhancing your school yard to include natural play spaces, community gardens and supporting your community’s use of school yards. Outdoor active play includes anything you like to do OUTDOORS!

Outdoor Learning is time spent during school hours. Improving your schools outdoor space to enable teachers to integrate the outdoors in lesson plans and projects is an effective solution to increasing student focus, building positive social connections, decreasing bullying, improving academic performance and contributing to comprehensive school health. Comprehensive school health includes getting our students outside, improving opportunities for higher activity levels and supporting the curriculum links that are possible through outdoor learning.

Active Transportation focuses on the way your students and staff get to school, other than driving or taking the bus. Supporting walking or biking to school can improve the health of your students, contribute to stronger academic performance, reduce bussing costs, contribute to a healthier environment and contribute to injury prevention and congestion around your school.
